A silhouette.

Shadows settle on the place, that you left.
Our minds are troubled by the emptiness.
Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time.
From the perfect start to the finish line.

And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones.
'Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.
Setting fire to our insides for fun
collecting names of the lovers that went wrong
the lovers that went wrong.

We are the reckless,
we are the wild youth
chasing visions of our futures
one day we'll reveal the truth
that one will die before he gets there.

And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones.
'Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone.
We're setting fire to our insides for fun.
Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked our home,
It was a flood that wrecked this...

...and you caused it...
...and you caused it...
...and you caused it...

Well I've lost it all, I'm just a silhouette,
A lifeless face that you'll soon forget,
My eyes are damp from the words you left,
ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.
ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.

And if you're in love, then you are the lucky one,
'cause most of us are bitter over someone.
Setting fire to our insides for fun,
to distract our hearts from ever missing them.
but I'm forever missing him.

and you caused it,
and you caused it,
and you caused it.

Daniel's song.

Adorable, no? :)

Better together—Yeah, whatever.

Better together—
Apparently not.
We had to fall apart.

You were so clever,
Or so I thought,
You had to break my heart.

I am yours,
I heard you say,
But that’s not what you meant.

Every line
Caused me to stay
But you weren’t the dream that I dreamt.

Better together—
Apparently not.
We had to fall apart.

But as I fell,
I realized so well,
You were never a dream of my heart.

concert craziness.

I've attended so many concerts this summer I can't actually remember all of them. I loved it though. I love music more than a lot of things, so hearing it live and seeing the artists perform is such an awesome experience for me.
Let's see, I went to...
Twilight Concert Series (Band of Horses, Joshua James, Iron and Wine)
Rooftop Concert Series (Isaac Russell, Fictionist and something else I can't remember)
Andrew Bird
and the Piano Guys.

Band of Horses was slightly disappointing. Joshua James was as good as always. I liked Iron and Wine but they played each song a lot differently than recorded and I understand why... but it's harder to sing along with. Isaac Russell was awesome and he seemed uncommonly chipper. Fictionist was okay but New Electric Sound and Jen Bloslin opened for them and they were both amazing performances! Andrew Bird was my favorite concert I've been to this year, he was absolutely amazing and I'm seriously in love with that man. I think he bleeds music probably. The Piano Guys were also one of my favorite concerts this year. They are always entertaining and incredibly talented.
Here are some photos from my concert adventures:

Bret likes shoes. So he took a picture I guess.

 Haha.

There ya go. Imagine Dragons on the 29th. Can't wait.

I love this song right now.

This isn't goodbye.

I don’t know if you remember this post from when I was moving back home for the summer. I kind of alluded to being a bit scared. What I left out was that I was freaking terrified.  I imagined myself spending every evening alone at home while Camille worked. I was scared about not having friends. I knew my friendships with my Provo friends wouldn’t be as strong—that’s how it always goes with the distance. I was so scared of feeling lonely.
I decided to pray. I prayed for the opportunity to make friends and I asked that if I did my part and actually sought out good friends and made the effort to be a good friend, that I would be able to find people who would influence me for the better and who I would be able to trust. Well, our first Sunday here Camille and I were welcomed immediately by everyone. I worked hard to be the friendliest and most confident I could be and just trusted that the Lord would help me find the friends I needed at that time if I did my best.
I met a lot of awesome people and I was surprised at how easily I could just forget about my own insecurities if I just went looking for people to talk to and made sure they had a good time instead of focusing on whether I was enjoying myself or not. By doing this, I always came back feeling super happy. I met some of the most amazing people this summer. I could probably go on and on about everyone and how much each friendship meant to me, but I’d really like to focus on Cody for this post. This is partly because he leaves for his mission in two days and partly because he really is my best friend.

Even though I became friends with a couple of Cody’s before I actually became friends with him, we definitely clicked fast and we became best friends faster than I’ve ever become best friends with anyone. I think this is because he’s basically the best at listening and just being there for someone. He was always the first person I’d go to when I needed to talk.
One night, Daniel and I were talking on my back porch and we got on the topic of how awesome of a friend Cody is—we often do that since we both look up to him so much.  I mentioned that Cody really seems to look out for me. Daniel said something about how he thought Cody sort of viewed me as a sister. So since then I have called him my brother. I have always kind of wanted a brother, so I was really happy about that. We pretty much are like siblings. And it’s really awesome.
We’ve been on so many adventures this summer.  Hikes, walks, Summer Sensation, a paper route until five in the morning, Fiesta Days, he can handle me when I’m on six hour energy, shop-carting (basically shop cart racing), star gazing in Payson canyon, random parties, guitar hero (he improved so much this summer!), my longboarding accident, crazy drama, tons of tiki punch drinks, Red Robin, movies, and so much more. We hung out pretty much every day. We’ve had so many awesome heart to heart talks. He’s probably the best hugger you’ll meet.
Cody is like the sweetest, most patient, most spiritual person ever. I look up to him so much and he sets such an amazing example for me. I want to be like him in so many ways. I’m so grateful for everything he’s done for me in the past four months. Cody was one of the biggest answers to my prayers, he really has helped me so much this summer. I'll miss him so much but I know he’ll be one of best missionaries because he has so much love and patience for people. He’ll definitely change lives for the better out there.

So, good luck Cody. I freaking love you and I’m going to miss you!

If you wanna hurt me baby, stop, cause you have.

Boys.
I really should just stop dating.

On a happier note, I've moved out most of my stuff. I'll be back in my apartment on Monday.
Also, I am incredibly excited for my Abnormal Psychology class. I think it's going to be extremely interesting.

And I'm going to miss Cody so much when he leaves for his mission.

But I'll save that topic for another post.

Story time.

Florence, my new longboard (named after Florence and the Machine), is a beautiful, blue pintail. We've already had some interesting adventures together, the craziest so far happened Friday night (it's not really that crazy though). Some friends and I had decided to just ride around the church parking lot for a bit. Only three of us actually own longboards, so we all kind of alternated between riding them and just talking with each other. When it was my turn to ride mine I was just riding along, minding my own business, when I guess I hit this huge crack or bump or something and Florence went flying in one direction sending me flying in the opposite direction. Don't ask me how this happened, but somehow I landed directly on my left hip haha. I heard Daniel shout my name and everyone came running over and I was just thinking, "well this is embarrassing, but it hurts so I think I'll just chill here a little longer..." so that's exactly what I did.

I assured everyone I was just fine and they sat down with me talking and making me laugh. They are awesome. :) I started feeling better so I stood up. I was like "there! See? I'm perfectly fine." to which Cody replied "Well, it's great you can stand up, but walk over to me." I tried to, but my hip and leg felt like they were on fire every time I took a step. So I sort of crumpled back to the ground. I think my body was trying to process the fact I couldn't walk at all, so I felt like passing out. I wasn't entirely sure what to do, so we just kept on talking right in the middle of the church parking lot. Then I saw that Camille's light was on which meant she was home from work and I thought maybe Braden was still there (he took her home) so Daniel offered to help me get back home to see. Well, we made it maybe ten feet before he asked if he could just carry me because I was moving very slowly and was in a lot of pain. So, we made it inside the house and then I told everyone I was fine and I'd have Camille help me get upstairs and that I was sure I'd feel better in the morning.

After everyone left, my mom came down and asked me how I was and sat down to chat with me a bit. She noticed I was acting kind of strange so I finally admitted to her that I had fallen off my longboard and injured myself... I really didn't want to tell her since when I bought the longboard, I assured her I would be really cautious and that I wouldn't get hurt. She tried to help me stand up and walk and when she saw that I really couldn't walk she, like any good mother, worried and decided to take me to the ER. There, they lectured me about helmets and knee pads, took me to a room full of fancy cameras and huge machines, x-rayed my leg and hip and discovered that I have something called Post Traumatic Tenosynovitis.

This is a term that sounds way worse than it is. I still don't entirely understand what it is, but something about the tendons and joint being inflamed and really sore. It's interesting because I can move my leg around just fine while sitting, laying, or standing still but the second I giggle, cough, or walk it hurts like crazy! So now I am on crutches and I have been since Saturday. I'm thinking I may be able to walk without them tomorrow because today my leg feels so much better than it did Saturday and Sunday. I still am not entirely comfortable putting a ton of weight on it, but it's definitely not as sore as it was. In fact, I think my arms are more sore from using my crutches all over the place yesterday.

But yeah.
First longboarding accident.
First trip to the ER.
First pair crutches.

Yessss.

Superhero Crush.

The other day, my older sister told me that if she could date any superhero she would date Batman. This got me thinking about who I would date. I really like Ironman because he's ridiculously smart, he is witty, and sarcastic, but I decided I wouldn't want to date him because he's too arrogant and that really is a quality I find considerably unattractive. Captain America sure is pretty, but I don't think he's my type, nor am I his. Same with Thor. I haven't seen X-Men (I know, crazy, right?) so that narrows it down a bit. I went to see The Amazing Spider-Man the other day and I realized that Peter Parker is almost exactly the kind of boy I would want to date. I know, I know, he's not as ripped as Thor or inhumanly attractive like Captain America. He's not as witty and sarcastic as Ironman. He just isn't Batman. But I think out of those heroes, if I were to meet them all in real life, Peter Parker is the one I'd fall head over heels for and here's why (this is solely based on The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield, I haven't read the comics and I don't really remember the other movies):
He is cute in a nerdy/skater sort of way.
He is a skater, and for no apparent reason I find that to be an incredibly attractive quality.
He's been through an insane amount of pain and loss but still turned out a hero.
He is really smart. He loves science and it comes naturally to him (he came up with that one equation). He's not arrogant about his intelligence though.
He's kind of awkward and shy but I find that adorable.
He seems really intellectual and deep. Like someone you could have amazing discussions with.
He seems pretty down to earth and real. He's got a lot of problems but he figures out how to deal with them and he grows a lot just within that particular movie.
Despite not being Thor, he is incredibly strong.
I like his clothing style. (Not the spider suit, but all the other times).
I like his crazy hair.
 So there you go.
Also because of that movie (even though it's Coldplay...):

And nothing to do with Spiderman:
